Leidos & The Scottish Parliament's Women's Network Presents:
Overcoming The Con Job, with author Dr Suzanne Doyle-Morris

Scottish Parliament Women’s Network are partnering with Leidos UK Women’s Network and WES (Women’s Enterprise Scotland) for a virtual evening event on 27 April 2021 from 5pm to 6:30pm with Dr. Suzanne Doyle-Morris who will deliver a presentation highlighting the vital differences between confidence and competence. Facilitating a panel of four, Dr. Doyle-Morris, author and proud WES ambassador, will discuss how the two words, and our expectations for each, have often been confused and misinterpreted in the workplace, as discussed in ‘The Con Job’.

You’re skilled...but do you sometimes feel overlooked at work?

Not progressing at work is often blamed on ‘lack of confidence’, but this excuse is a total con job. It misses genuine competence, conveniently rewards the status quo and distracts us from understanding the context of what really drives confidence. This means we fail to get the right people into the best jobs. She shares strategies covered in ‘The Con Job’, to help audiences:

- Capitalise on what you are doing well to silence the ‘imposter’.
- Convince others to value your hard-earned experience.
- Redefine confidence so it doesn’t continue to advantage the ‘status quo’.

It’s time to debunk The Con Job for yourself in order to get ahead.

The event will be hosted on a virtual platform, Webex. You will receive the information required to connect to the event once registered.
Date: Tuesday, 27 April 2021

Time: 17:00 to 18:30
The first 100 attendees registering for this virtual event will also be given a code to use to claim their own copy of ‘The Con Job: Getting Ahead for Competence in a World Obsessed with Confidence’ to be sent direct to a UK address of their choice.
